Whatever comes to mind. Sometimes a story I read, sometimes something that came to me while holding my mala beads.
Psychology took decades to describe flow. Zhuangzi finished it twenty-three centuries ago with one ox and one blade — a knife used for nineteen years, still fresh from the whetstone, because it looked for gaps instead of hacking bone.
Cold Dew is the first of China's 24 solar terms with the word "cold" in it. The old rule for this season is one word: gather in. Pack the summer clothes, sleep earlier, shift the table from "cooling" to "moistening" — and let the unfinished things become next year's fertilizer.
An American girl wore a mamian qun to prom. The comments asked what brand it was. She said: It's not a brand. It's 400 years old. This skirt has only been back on Chinese streets for twenty years. Where did it go? How did it come home?
For three years my desk faced away from the corridor, and I thought I was just tired. Then an elder asked: what's behind your seat? In Chinese, a sense of safety is measured by your back — a mountain to lean on. Not superstition, but observation the body already knew. A small story about moving a desk.
A friend woke at 3 a.m. to a figure standing at the foot of the bed — her own reflection. Half a world apart, cultures that never met are afraid of the same piece of glass. Unwrap the frightening language, and what's inside is the same simple thing: a good night's sleep.
A friend lit a bundle of sage to purify her new apartment. Watching the smoke, I thought of the peach wood sword at home. Door gods, spring couplets, cinnabar, red string — behind the Chinese system of protection lies one ancient question: when you're afraid, what can your hand hold?
A friend bought a rose quartz on TikTok to attract love. I told her about the peach blossoms of three thousand years ago, the four directions in the old fortune-teller's rhyme, and one more thing: a person's love corner is so often the messiest corner of their home.
Cleaning out a drawer, I found a stone Pixiu I bought years ago for thirty yuan. The vendor said it has a mouth but no other end — nothing comes out. Now foreigners on TikTok call it the money beast. I finally understood: it isn't for asking wealth. It's for watching over what you have.
A new Danish colleague placed a rose quartz and a pothos on her desk — desk feng shui, she learned it from TikTok. I almost laughed. My mom told me all this when I set up my desk in elementary school. Sit solid, face open; keep the Bright Hall clear; left high, right low. Unpack these old rules, and almost every one maps onto modern environmental psychology.
What is face reading actually looking at? An ordinary person stared at the mirror for a long time. Maybe every line on your face is a mark of how you've lived.
A friend moved into a new place and started having nightmares every night. Her wardrobe mirror was facing the bed. After covering it, she slept through the night. This is what I discovered about mirrors and sleep.
A while back I had dinner with a friend. She looked at me, started to say something, then stopped. Then she said it anyway: "You're not a bad catch, you know. How come nothing's ever happening?" I sm...
A friend told me my living room wealth corner was empty. I had no idea what she meant. After looking into it, I found that feng shui's principles are surprisingly simple — take care of the corners you've been ignoring, and your whole home changes.
My coworker suddenly moved his cactus from the left to the right side of his desk. I wanted to laugh — but after thinking about it, some things really do affect your state of mind without you understanding why. Today: the four directions of your desk, the objects people overlook, and what colors mean.
I saw a foreign girl wearing Five Elements crystal bracelets, calling it her Chinese crystal healing. I looked down at my old bodhi seed bracelet. Then I actually researched the Five Elements and their crystal correspondences — and found it's not superstition. It's a way to pay attention.
